Vineyard and terroir
The Sangiovese comes from Ortona and San Salvo on Abruzzo’s Adriatic coast. The vines face south-east, grow in clay-limestone soils and are trained to the Pergola system.
Grapes
100% Sangiovese.
Vinification
The grapes are destemmed and crushed, then undergo two days of cold maceration. Maceration and fermentation continue for 9–11 days at 20–22°C.
Ageing
Between 10% and 20% of the wine matures in oak, with the balance kept in stainless steel.
Tasting profile
Garnet red. The nose is intense and persistent, with fruit, vinous nuances and an oak-derived note. Medium-bodied, balanced and ready to drink, with well-defined tannins.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 16–18°C with a charcuterie board, meatballs in tomato sauce, grilled meat or chops.
