Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit is grown at 350–420 metres above sea level in Castelnuovo Berardenga, the southernmost commune of the Chianti Classico area. Some vines are more than 50 years old; the remainder were planted in the 1980s.
Grapes
The younger plantings use Sangiovese clones selected through years of research.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in several passes to select the best berries. After destemming and pressing, fermentation takes place at 28–30 °C. Maceration lasts 12–15 days, with automated punch-downs each day, followed by malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
The wine matures in barriques for 12 months, followed by 3–6 months in bottle.
Tasting profile
Elegant, vibrant and fresh, with a balanced, fruit-driven character.
