Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from Niscemi in the province of Caltanissetta. Vineyards stand at 80 m above sea level on medium-textured soil with a sandy tendency. The vines are trained to spurred cordon, planted at 5,900 plants per hectare and cropped at 70 quintals per hectare.
Grapes
Blend proportions vary by vintage. The latest published composition is 50% Inzolia and 50% Catarratto. Catarratto has a long association with Marsala production; together with Inzolia it forms a white wine with a distinct personality.
Vinification
The first vintage was 2005. Grapes are harvested at the end of August. Vinification and controlled-temperature fermentation take place in steel, followed by malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
The wine spends six months in steel before bottling and a further four months in bottle.
