Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from Niscemi (CL), Sicily. The vines are trained to spurred cordon. The technical sheet describes medium-textured soil tending to sandy, an altitude of 80 m a.s.l., a density of 5,900 plants per hectare and a yield of 70 q/ha. The wine page instead gives loose soil, 100 m a.s.l., 6,000 plants per hectare and 60 q/ha.
Grapes
100% Catarratto, a historic Sicilian variety. This is one of the four single-varietal wines in the Colori di Sicilia line. The style is a fresh, fruity white of medium structure.
Vinification
The harvest is placed at the end of August in the technical sheet and at the beginning of September on the wine page. Vinification takes place in steel tanks at controlled temperature.
Ageing
Four months in steel followed by two months in bottle.
Technical data
Sicilia DOC. Available in 750 ml bottles. First vintage: 2023.
Tasting profile
Straw yellow with greenish reflections. Aromas move from white-fleshed fruit, including peach and pineapple, to jasmine and orange blossom. The palate is delicately citrus-led, fresh and savoury, with a fresh, saline finish.
Serving and pairing
Suitable for fish and seafood, white meats, grilled vegetables, and soft or medium-aged cheeses.
Label / history
The label uses orange and yellow brushstrokes recalling Sicilian citrus fruit. Its design is drawn from ceramics by the Caltagirone master Giacomo Alessi.
