Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from Niscemi (CL), Sicily, at 100 m a.s.l. The technical sheet describes medium-textured soil rich in stones, while the wine page calls the soil loose. The vines are trained to spurred cordon at 6,000 plants per hectare, with a yield of 60 q/ha.
Grapes
100% Frappato, an ancient native black grape variety. Vinified as a single variety, it forms one of the four Colori di Sicilia wines and is presented as a youthful red of medium structure.
Vinification
The technical sheet places harvest in the second half of August; the wine page instead gives the beginning of September. Vinification takes place in steel tanks at controlled temperature. Malolactic fermentation is completed.
Ageing
Four months in steel followed by two months in bottle.
Technical data
Sicilia DOC. Available in 750 ml bottles. First vintage: 2023.
