Vineyard and terroir
This Merlot comes from one of the earliest vineyards planted on the estate, in Niscemi, in the province of Caltanissetta. The vineyard lies at 100 m above sea level. Vines are trained to spurred cordon at a density of 6,000 plants per hectare and yield 60 quintals per hectare. Harvest takes place in the last week of August.
Grapes
100% Merlot.
Vinification
Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation is completed.
Ageing
The wine spends 10 months in barriques, split evenly between new and second-use barrels, followed by eight months in bottle.
Technical data
Terre Siciliane IGT. Available format: 0.75 L. The style combines substantial structure and power with elegance and longevity.
Tasting profile
Deep, intense red. Vegetal nuances frame blackberry and spice aromas. The palate is structured, enveloping and persistent, ending in a long finish.
Serving and pairing
Pairs with first courses and richly flavoured white or red meats, particularly roasts. It also suits mature cheeses with pronounced flavour.

First produced in 2007. The label is associated with Valentino.
