Label / history

The name Soave means “smooth” in Italian. Francesco Folonari founded the company in 1825 in Valcamonica. In the mid-19th century, he moved with his family to Brescia, in the foothills of the Alps, where he established a winery. In the second half of that century, the company both produced and bottled wine, an unusual practice at the time. Its aim was to make good-quality, affordable wines for everyday drinking.
