Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards lie near the top of a hill in the commune of Paternopoli, at approximately 450 m above sea level. The soils are predominantly clay, and the average yield is 6 tonnes per hectare. The vines were planted in 2005.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand during the final ten days of October, then sorted and gently crushed at the winery. Following a short maceration, the must ferments in stainless-steel tanks under controlled temperature.
Ageing
After stabilization, the wine ages for 10 months in steel tanks.
Tasting profile
Well-balanced.
Label / history
The vineyard was planted by Lorenzo Fonzone Caccese, a surgeon who later decided to revive the family business. Gesualdo Castle stands on the neighbouring hill and has belonged to the Caccese family since the end of the 19th century.
