Label / history
Frescobaldi's stated mission is to introduce people to Tuscany in all the diversity of its terroirs, natural conditions and winemaking traditions. The Marchesi de Frescobaldi family has grown grapes in the heart of Tuscany for 700 years. In the XIV century it supplied its wines to the English Crown and to the courts of many European countries. From the second half of the XX century it played a leading role in Tuscan winemaking. It was among the first to plant varieties such as Chardonnay, Cabernet, Merlot and Pinot, and it introduced new winemaking methods. In 1989 it acquired the largest estate in the Brunello region. In 1995 it signed an agreement with a California winery to set up a joint venture in Tuscany. Frescobaldi now owns nine estates in Tuscany and exports to more than 60 countries.
