Storia
19th century
Giovanni Conterno moved his family to his father's small wine farm in Monforte d'Alba and began helping him make wine. After Giovanni joined the business, production grew significantly. The wine was sold in barrels not only in Piedmont and Liguria, but also in America, with the help of relatives who had remained in Argentina.
1920
The first Barolo was released.
1930s
Giovanni handed the business over to his son, Giacomo Conterno, who carried on his father's traditions. In the years that followed, Giacomo's sons, Giovanni and Aldo, began helping him run the winery.
1969
Aldo and Giovanni went their separate ways to make Barolo wines with their own distinctive character. Giovanni took charge of the Giacomo Conterno winery, while Aldo founded his own estate, Aldo Conterno.
2003 to today
Giovanni Conterno died in 2003, and his son Roberto took over. Today, Roberto continues to use traditional winemaking methods, producing wines with good aging potential. The estate's wines have earned recognition from international wine critics.
