Vineyard and terroir

The Nebbiolo was sourced from 16 plots in La Morra, Barolo, Monforte and Serralunga d’Alba.

Vinification

The grapes were harvested in October. Fruit from each plot was fermented separately. Maceration lasted 10–15 days, followed by approximately 10 days of malolactic fermentation. The lots were blended in spring 2008.

Ageing

The wine spent 12 months in barriques and a further 12 months in large barrels. Daily bâtonnage with the lees was used to increase aromatic richness.

Tasting profile

The bouquet is rich, with sweet spices, nuts and hints of cherry liqueur. The palate is powerful and fruit-driven, with depth, balance and minerality.

Vintage notes

The 2007 growing season began with a mild winter and early budbreak; flowering was already under way by early May. July was hot and dry, while August was cooler than average. Harvesting of early-ripening varieties began on 20 August. The crop was smaller than average but of excellent quality.
