Storia
Founding
Giovanni Corino founded the winery in 1952. For many years he sold his wine to négociants rather than bottling it himself.
Estate Bottling
Almost 30 years after founding the winery, Giovanni Corino and his sons decided to produce and bottle wine under their own Corino label, a decision encouraged by the quality of fruit from the family's own vineyards.
The First Barolo Giachini
The first Barolo "Giachini" was made from the 1987 harvest. Although 1987 was not considered an outstanding vintage, Giachini showed exceptional quality from the start and has since become legendary.
Expansion
Following the success of Giachini, the winery expanded its vineyard holdings and later introduced Barolo "Arborina" and Barolo "Vigneto Rocche," both matching the quality of the debut wine. Among the more recent acquisitions are parcels in the "Roncaglie" vineyard, planted with Nebbiolo.
Today
Corino is regarded as one of the appellation's leading producers. The winery is run by Giuliano Corino, who serves as its agronomist and winemaker.
Filosofia
Corino wines are described as combining a powerful body and vibrant fruit with refined elegance. Each vineyard is said to bring its own character to the wines, which are described as enjoyable both young and with age.
