Vineyard and terroir
The Chardonnay comes from two selected plots within the Girlan single vineyard, on the Gschleier and Schreckbichl hills at 450–500 m. One plot faces east and the other west. Together they cover 1 ha. The vines are 20–25 years old and grow in poor, gravelly soils formed by morainic deposits over volcanic porphyry. The wine emerged from years of research and small-lot vinification trials.
Grapes
100% Chardonnay.
Vinification
Fully ripe grapes are picked by hand in early October and delivered in small containers. The whole bunches are pressed immediately, after which the must is clarified naturally by sedimentation. Fermentation and malolactic fermentation take place in barriques.
Ageing
The wine remains on its lees in barriques for 12 months, then matures for eight months in stainless-steel tanks and another 12 months in bottle.

Vintage 2022. Alto Adige DOC. Vineyard area: 1 ha. Yield: 31 hl/ha. Alcohol: 14.5% vol. Total acidity: 6.38 g/L. Residual sugar: 1.4 g/L.
Tasting profile
Citrus and peach shape the aroma. The palate is elegant and complex, with pronounced minerality and a long, mouth-watering finish.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 10–12 °C. It pairs with fine fish dishes and white meat. Ageing potential: 20 years.
