Vineyard and terroir

The fruit comes from selected old vineyards in Bassa Atesina and Oltradige, chosen for their established suitability and particular microclimates. Most of the grapes originate on the eastern side of Bassa Atesina at 380–430 m, where the soils are deep and rich in clay and limestone. A second component comes from old Oltradige vineyards around 500 m, rooted in morainic deposits over volcanic porphyry.

Grapes

100% Pinot Noir.

Vinification

The grapes are hand-harvested into small containers to minimize pressure. Ten percent is vinified as whole clusters. The fruit enters stainless-steel tanks by gravity and undergoes alcoholic fermentation for 20–24 days, followed by malolactic fermentation.

Ageing

Maturation begins with 12 months in barriques and 12 hl wooden barrels. The wine then spends eight months in 70 hl wooden barrels and a further eight months in bottle.

Technical data

Vintage 2023. Alto Adige DOC. Yield: 39 hl/ha. Alcohol: 14.0% vol. Total acidity: 5.81 g/L. Residual sugar: 0.2 g/L. Available formats: 0.75 L, 1.5 L, 3 L and 5 L.

Ruby red with subtle grenadine tones. The intense, complex bouquet combines ripe fruit, cherry and maraschino. Elegant yet rich on the palate, it has a delicate character, a fine tannic framework and persistent length.
