Vineyard and terroir
The Müller Thurgau vineyards occupy the highest sites in Cantina Girlan’s growing area, from 500 to 900 metres above sea level. Soils range from sandy porphyry rock to limestone-bearing glacial moraine, supporting the wine’s mineral freshness and fine aromatic character.
Grapes
Müller Thurgau. The variety is described as a crossing of Riesling and Sylvaner and forms delicate bunches of fragrant, green-yellow grapes.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand and delivered in small containers to prevent excessive pressure. Gentle pressing is followed by clarification of the must through natural sedimentation. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at controlled temperature in stainless-steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine ages on its fine lees in stainless-steel tanks.
