Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from the Il Tesoro estate's production area at Valpiana, Massa Marittima, in Tuscany's Alta Maremma. The vineyards lie at 140–160 metres above sea level.

Grapes

80% Chardonnay and 20% Viognier.

Vinification

The grapes undergo soft pressing and cold static clarification. Chardonnay and Viognier are fermented separately in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 16°C.

Ageing

Both varieties mature for six months on their fine lees. Viognier remains in stainless steel, while Chardonnay is aged in used barriques.

Technical data

DOC Maremma Toscana Organic. The wine is available in 750 ml bottles and 1.5 L magnums. The 750 ml format is packed in cartons of three or six bottles; magnums are packed individually. Alcohol is stated as 13% vol. on the wine page and 13.5% vol. in the 2025 factsheet.

Tasting profile

Brilliant straw yellow with greenish hues. The intense, complex bouquet opens with white flowers, then develops notes of banana and white peach rounded by a delicate touch of oak. The palate has a fresh, pleasant entry, balanced intensity and persistent savouriness, followed by an elegant, harmonious finish.

Serving and pairing

Pair with fresh or moderately aged cheeses, steamed, grilled or baked fish, fish-based first courses, or pasta and similar first courses served with white-meat sauces.

Vintage notes

The 2025 growing season featured fluctuating weather. A rainy early spring was followed by a very hot June and a cool July. From early August through September, heat waves alternated with rainy periods. Ripening slowed, requiring careful monitoring of vine health, while adequate water reserves, limited heat stress and good temperature variations supported uniform ripeness and high-quality grapes.
