Questo vino

Vineyard and terroir

The Vermentino is grown around Valpiana at Massa Marittima in Alta Maremma, at 140–160 m above sea level. Its mineral-rich Colline Metallifere soils contain ferrous elements, while constant sea breezes influence the site. The interaction of soil and climate encourages even ripening and a precise, site-driven aromatic profile.

Grapes

100% Vermentino.

Vinification

The grapes undergo soft pressing and cold static clarification. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 16°C.

Ageing

The wine matures for six to eight months on its fine lees in Clayver ceramic barrels.

Technical data

DOC Maremma Toscana Vermentino Superiore. Alcohol: 13% vol. Bottle format: 0.75 L, packed in cartons of three.

Tasting profile

Brilliant straw yellow with greenish hues. Broom, sage and ripe citrus define the nose, accompanied by a fine mineral nuance. The palate is full, fresh and saline, with linear structure, vibrant acidity and a persistent finish.

Serving and pairing

Pair with fresh or medium-aged cheeses, fish-based first courses, and steamed, grilled or baked fish. First courses with white-meat sauces are also suggested.

Vintage notes

The 2024 season began in relatively balanced conditions, with rainfall well above the seasonal average, normal temperatures and favourable temperature variations until mid-July. Strong daytime and nighttime heat followed, but ample water reserves helped the vines withstand the stress. Heavy rain in September and October prolonged ripening and harvesting. Yields were generous, while alcohol and phenolic ripeness remained balanced.
