Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The 3.5-hectare vineyard is situated at 350–400 m above sea level, with south and southwest exposures. Its soils consist of slate and marl. Higher elevations contribute elegance and freshness to the wine.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand and fermented in stainless-steel tanks. Ten percent is fermented in contact with the stems to add complexity.
Ageing
The wine matures for one year in barriques: one-third new, one-third second-use and one-third third-use. It then rests in bottle for approximately two years, developing greater depth and roundness.
Tasting profile
Intense and concentrated, with an elegant freshness, rich character and classic aromas of black berries and spices. The finish is persistent.
Label / history
Paolo De Marchi was an early proponent of Syrah in Tuscany, and this wine was among the region’s first single-varietal Syrah wines.
