Vineyard and terroir
The vineyard lies in Perno, in the municipality of Monforte d’Alba, at 350–400 m. It faces east and was planted in 1948. The medium-textured soil belongs to the Lequio Formation and alternates sandy marl with clayey marl. The broader Perno site receives sunlight from the south-east, while its clay-rich ground contributes to wines of firm character and structure.
Grapes
100% Nebbiolo.
Vinification
Alcoholic fermentation takes place at controlled temperature in stainless-steel tanks. Maceration lasts approximately 12–14 days, followed by malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
The wine matures for 24 months in oak barrels. It is then transferred to concrete tanks for natural stabilization and receives a further six months of bottle refinement before release.
Tasting profile
A structured, austere and profound Barolo with a strong character. Its solid framework is suited to extended evolution.
Serving and pairing
Pair with braised meats, game and mature cheeses.
