Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards lie at 400–450 m on the southeastern slope of the Montalcino hill. A thin layer of sand covers dense clay, a soil profile that encourages deep rooting and concentrated flavours. The vines average about 46 years of age and are cultivated according to organic principles.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested entirely by hand in the third week of September. Fermentation takes place in large oak barrels and stainless-steel vats, with maceration lasting up to 40 days.
Ageing
The wine matures for three years in 500 L French oak barrels, one-third new and two-thirds previously used. It then rests in bottle for a further six months before release.
Tasting profile
Powerful and structured yet refined and elegant, the wine has aromas of fresh red berries and tobacco. The palate combines rich, vivid fruit with mineral notes and warm, developed hints of delicate spice, supported by excellent balance.
Serving and pairing
Pair with red meat or flavourful cheeses.
