Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow on Eocene marl and sandstone soils known locally as “ponca”, characteristic of the hills of Eastern Friuli.
Vinification
Harvest begins in the first week of September. At the winery, one portion of the grapes is destemmed, crushed and pressed, while the other half undergoes maceration at 4 °C for 36 hours. The must is then cold-settled before fermenting in stainless-steel tanks at 16 °C for 30–40 days.
Ageing
The wine rests in stainless-steel tanks with regular lees stirring and is bottled in February or March.
