Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The production area is Taurasi in the province of Avellino. The vineyards lie at elevations between 500 and 700 metres and are continually refreshed by a cool breeze from the Bay of Naples. Over centuries, this airflow carried volcanic ash inland from Vesuvius, contributing to the area's poor, volcanic soils. The fruit is sourced from vines more than 40 years old.
Grapes
Aglianico.
Vinification
The grapes undergo gentle destemming and crushing. Maceration lasts 20–25 days at 26–28°C.
Ageing
The wine matures for 16 months in barrels made from a selected range of French oak chosen by head winemaker Dennis Verdecchia. Bottle maturation follows, with no duration specified.
