Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The Sangiovese grows in clay-limestone soils rich in river pebbles. The site has a dry, sunny climate, clear air and no fog.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness, with selection limited to the healthiest fruit. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks at no more than 28 °C, followed by 25 days of skin contact. Malolactic fermentation begins as the natural yeasts become more active. The wine is gently filtered before bottling.
Ageing
The wine matures for 12 months in French oak barrels in their first or second year of use.
Tasting profile
Polished and well balanced.
Vintage notes
In 2018, heavy rain and hail damaged some Sangiovese vineyard sites in Tuscany, but a favourable summer of hot days and cooler nights produced a strong, healthy crop. The season’s red wines had juicy fruit, good acidity and structure. The recommended drinking window for this vintage was 2021–2024.
