Storia
The Porello family has grown grapes since the early 20th century. Until 1930 it was a family hobby; in that year Cesare Porello made it a profession.
After the Second World War
Cesare's sons Riccardo and Ettore inherited the estate. They devoted themselves entirely to growing grapes, an unusual choice at the time.
1994 onwards
In 1994 Riccardo's son Marco Porello took over the estate.
Terroir
Piedmont's landscape, with its biodiversity and varied microclimates, was formed when the sea retreated from the Po Valley around 16 million years ago.
- Vezza d'Alba: sandy, mineral-rich soils of marine origin.
- Canale d'Alba: medium-textured soils with a good proportion of clay, which help the grapes ripen well.
Vinificazione
The estate has 15 hectares of vineyards. Particular attention is given to native grape varieties such as Torretta, Arneis and Favorita.
The estate has a 1000-square-meter cellar and produces 120,000 bottles a year. The range includes 5 red wines, 3 white wines and two dessert wines.
Filosofia
The family says its desire to make high-quality wines has guided it for generations, and that it still pays close attention to the smallest details to give each wine its own polish and distinctive character.
