Vineyard and terroir
The fruit grows in the Marcellisna Valley on gentle hillsides running from north to south, at an altitude of 100 metres. The limestone-based soils contain small amounts of clay and stones. Organic fertiliser is applied every four years, with trace elements added when needed.
Grapes
Dried grapes make up 10–15% of the final blend.
Vinification
All grapes are harvested by hand. A portion undergoes appassimento, drying for about 40 days in well-ventilated rooms. The remaining grapes are picked when overripe and pressed. The two portions are fermented separately.
Ageing
The two wines mature separately for around 30 months in 350-litre Slavonian oak barrels before the final blend is assembled.
Tasting profile
Flavourful and juicy, with baked fruit and wood notes accompanied by hints of dried flowers.
