Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards are planted on fertile volcanic soils with a south-eastern exposure. The vines are 20 years old on average. The climate is mild, with occasional cooling Mediterranean breezes.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested in the first half of October and vinified traditionally in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled temperature.
Ageing
The wine rests for two months in steel tanks, followed by at least one month in bottle.
Label / history
The name “Lacryma Christi” comes from an old legend: when the Lord saw that Lucifer had stolen a piece of paradise, he wept, and vineyards later grew where his tears fell. The grape variety has long been cultivated in the area and was mentioned by the ancient Roman historian and statesman Pliny.
