Vineyard and terroir
Fels is grown above Nalles in the Adige Valley, on the river’s right bank. The vineyards range from 500 to 750 m and face east to southeast; the site description specifically places the vines at about 500 m. Porphyry and limestone define the soils. The climate ranges from continental to sub-Mediterranean, with warm days and cool nights.
Grapes
100% Kerner.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand. The clarified must ferments for approximately three weeks in stainless-steel tanks.
Ageing
The young wine rests on its fine lees for a further five months before bottling.
Technical data
Alto Adige DOC. Recommended storage conditions are 10–13 °C and at least 60% humidity.
Tasting profile
Pale straw yellow with good depth. The nose combines kiwi and passion fruit with balsamic undertones. The palate is saline and distinctly mineral, leading into an elegant, persistent finish.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 10–12 °C. Pair with tuna carpaccio or barley soup.
