Vineyard and terroir
The grapes are hand-picked from the rocky soils of the Mine, Longoni and Chiesa Sassella vineyards. Nino Negri’s vineyards are situated at elevations of 300–1,000 metres and have exposures that aid ripening. The estate covers 34 ha, including 11 ha used for planting young vineyards.
Vinification
Harvest takes place in early October. The grapes ferment on their skins in temperature-controlled vats, with five days of maceration.
Ageing
Half of the wine ages for 16 months in small French oak barrels previously used two or three times. The other half matures for 20 months in 30 and 50 hl French oak barrels.
