Vineyard and terroir
The estate’s vineyards are in Bolgheri, Tuscany, near the Tyrrhenian coast. They cover 97 ha and have a mild Mediterranean climate and soils considered conducive to ripening.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand when they reach optimal ripeness. Production methods are adapted to the character of each harvest, and fruit from each vineyard is fermented separately.
Tasting profile
Refined, lively and concentrated, with fresh fruit flavours, spicy aromas and soft, smooth tannins. The aromas and flavours have notable complexity and intensity.
Vintage notes
The summer of 2007 was sunny, followed by unusually mild weather. These conditions increased the complexity and intensity of the grapes’ natural aromas and flavours.
Label / history
The Vendemmia d’Artista collection was launched in 2006. The 2007 edition is named “L’Armonia,” meaning “Harmony.” Each label carries part of the phrase “Happily-Ever-After” and is signed by its creators, Reza Farkhondeh and Ghada Amer. For each vintage in the collection, an artist translates impressions of the year into an artwork, while its character is also expressed in a single word.
Large-format bottles from the collection are sold at auction to support charitable foundations restoring works of art and monuments. Tenuta dell’Ornellaia was founded in 1981 by Marquis Lodovico Antinori and is now part of Marchesi de’Frescobaldi.
