Vineyard and terroir
The estate’s vineyards cover 97 ha in Bolgheri, a Tuscan subregion near the Tyrrhenian Sea. They have a mild Mediterranean climate, with soils and conditions that support grape ripening.
Vinification
Production methods are adapted to the character of each harvest. The grapes are picked by hand at optimal ripeness, and fruit from each vineyard is fermented separately.
Label / history
Solare is the 12th release in the Vendemmia d’Artista series, launched in 2006. For each vintage, an artist creates labels expressing an impression of that year, while a writer condenses its idea and character into a single word.
The 2017 labels were designed by Thomas Saraceno, an Argentinian artist born in 1973 whose work connects art with the life and social sciences. His floating sculptures, community projects and interactive installations explore environmental perception, ecological upheaval and the effects of human actions on the planet.
Auction proceeds from the series’ large-format releases support charitable foundations involved in restoring works of art and monuments.
