Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from the Chianti Classico DOCG production area. Sangiovese is grown in a cool climate marked by substantial temperature variation.

90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot.
Ageing
The wine matures for at least 18 months. Sixty percent is aged in 500 hl large barrels and 40% in 225 L barriques.

Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG. Alcohol: 14% vol. Available in 0.75 L and 1.5 L bottles.
Tasting profile
Intense ruby red with a lightly garnet rim. The Sangiovese contributes vibrant floral character, while Merlot adds aromatic power. The palate is highly complex, with a dense, elegant tannic structure.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 18°C with game or mixed grilled meats.
Label / history
Montegiachi takes its name from the eponymous fortress castle erected near Castelnuovo Berardenga in the fifteenth century. In 2008, Gambero Rosso awarded the label Tre Bicchieri; it was the first time a Tuscan cooperative received the award.
