Vineyard and terroir
Moscabianca belongs to the Tenuta Plozner range from Barbeano di Spilimbergo, in the heart of the Friuli Grave area. The vineyards lie at 140 m above sea level on the upper Friulian plain between Pordenone and Udine. Approximately 70% of the ground consists of stones and gravel deposited by the Meduna, Cellina and Tagliamento rivers after the Alpine glaciers melted. These relatively infertile, freely draining soils restrict yields naturally and shed abundant spring rainfall.
The Carnic Alps protect the area from cold northern winds, while warmer currents from the nearby coast moderate the climate. The estate associates this terroir with finely scented, fresh and mineral white wines capable of extended development.
Tenuta Plozner has 43 ha of vines. Its vineyards are densely planted at 6,000 vines/ha and trained to Guyot. Conversion to organic farming began after Cristiana Bettili acquired the property in 2013.
