Label / history
"Piano Chiuso" is part of Felice Mergè's "Closed Vineyard" project ("vigneto chiuso", or "chiuso"), which aims to produce wines from small, clearly defined vineyards, similar to the French "Clos". Each enclosed vineyard gives fruit with its own qualities and a marked sense of place.
Inspired by the experience of his father, Armando, Felice Mergè bought and restored a building in 2010 that had housed the Municipal Cooperative of Erchie Producers, operating since 1949. He renamed it Masca del Tacco and equipped the winery with modern equipment and innovative production methods, intended to improve quality while keeping the traditional character. The acquisition allowed Poggio Le Volpi to expand its vineyards in the areas of Veglie and Torricella.
