Vineyard and terroir
The 1.5 ha vineyard lies in the first hills inland from the Costa d’Argento, facing the Argentario promontory and adjoining the Maremma Natural Park. It stands at an average altitude of 150 m, with southern exposure. The deep, medium-textured soil is of volcanic origin and contributes fruit and structure. The 15-year-old vines are planted at 5,000 vines per hectare and trained to spurred cordon. Average yield is 1.5 kg per vine.
Grapes
100% Vermentino.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested in mid-September.
Ageing
Maturation takes place in stainless steel, followed by three months in bottle.
Tasting profile
Straw yellow. Peach and rosemary-blossom aromas lead to a fine, elegant palate with the floral and fruity character of Vermentino. Pronounced savouriness is balanced by freshness and liveliness.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 8–10°C. Pair with appetizers, raw or cooked fish, white meats and medium-aged cheeses.
