Vineyard and terroir
The Spiaggiole vineyard occupies the first hills inland from the Costa d’Argento, facing the Argentario and Talamone promontories and overlooking the Maremma coast. Grapes come from the Spiaggiole and Poggio Maestrino vineyards, covering 13.5 ha. The sites lie at an average altitude of 200 m with eastern and western exposures. Their deep, generous, medium-textured soils are volcanic in origin and give the wine fruit and structure. The ten-year-old vines are planted at 5,000 vines per hectare, spur pruned and cropped at an average of 1.5 kg per vine.
