Vineyard and terroir
Tosco is produced from the Casavecchia estate in the Chianti area. Villa Poggio Salvi added this property to its holdings in 1998 for the production of Chianti Colli Senesi and its Toscana IGT wines.
Grapes
Sangiovese.
Tasting profile
The 2024 vintage shows vivid cherry, strawberry and violet aromas. The palate is light-bodied and crunchy, with crisp acidity.
The 2021 vintage was described with black cherry, red liquorice, tree bark, cocoa and damp-earth notes. It is medium-bodied, firm and textured, combining creamy tannins with juicy dark fruit and a flavourful finish.
Vintage notes
The 2019 vintage was characterised by fresh blue fruit, oyster shell and walnut, with herbal and orange-peel nuances on a lively, medium-bodied palate. The 2016 showed flowers, cherries and citrus, a medium-to-full body, firm yet fine tannins and a fresh finish. The 2015 combined berry and tea notes with a shell-like mineral nuance, medium-to-full body and chewy tannins.
