Vineyard and terroir
The project began in 2010 with a detailed subdivision and zonation of Villa Poggio Salvi’s 20 hectares of vineyards in Montalcino. This work identified a single cru parcel considered especially expressive of the characteristics sought for Brunello di Montalcino. Its grapes are harvested and vinified separately.
Vinification
Fruit from the selected parcel is vinified independently while retaining the estate’s established production philosophy.
Label / history
The first listed vintage is 2010. The name Pomona honors the female figure represented on Villa Poggio Salvi’s labels since 1979. Depicted with grape-filled hair, Pomona is the Roman goddess and guardian of fruit, including grapes, olives and fruit grown on trees.
