Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from estate vineyards in Montalcino, situated at 350–500 m above sea level with south-western exposure. The soils are coarse-textured galestro. Vines are trained to spurred cordon at a density of 5,000 plants per hectare and are 15–20 years old.
Grapes
100% Sangiovese grosso.
Vinification
The grapes are picked by hand into crates at the beginning of October. Fermentation and maceration take place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks at 28–30°C for 12–14 days. Automatic hydraulic equipment is used to punch down the cap.
Ageing
The wine matures for 30 months in Slavonian oak casks ranging from 30 to 100 hl, followed by at least four months of bottle ageing.
Technical data
The published format is 750 ml. The wine is classified as Brunello di Montalcino DOCG.
Tasting profile
Intense ruby red with garnet reflections. The bouquet is fine and intense, led by red fruit and complemented by floral nuances. The palate is full-bodied, with elegant tannins and a long, persistent finish that supports extended development in bottle.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 18°C. Pair with grilled meats, game, mature cheeses and truffle dishes. It can also be enjoyed on its own as a contemplative wine. Cellaring potential is 30 years or more.
