Vineyard and terroir
The vines grow at 300 m above sea level in the hills south of Rome. The soils are rich in volcanic rock, contributing a refined mineral character.
Grapes
Malvasia Lazio is locally known as Puntinata. The Italian name means “speckled” and refers to the small spots on the grape skins. The variety has been cultivated in Italy since the Roman Empire.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in late September. They undergo one day of skin maceration, followed by a 20-day fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine matures for 4–5 months in stainless-steel tanks.
Tasting profile
The wine has a refined mineral character.
Label / history
The Roma DOC appellation was officially registered in 2011.
