Vineyard and terroir
The wine comes from 3.9 ha within the Montefico MGA, with south- and southeast-facing exposures. The soil is calcareous clay. The contributing vineyards are owned by Casetta, Rocca and Vacca.
Grapes
100% Nebbiolo.
Vinification
The 2021 fermented in stainless steel at 30°C and underwent 28 days of skin maceration. Malolactic fermentation was completed.
Ageing
Thirty months in 25–50 hl oak casks, followed by nine months in bottle. The 2021 was bottled in May 2025.
Technical data
Production of the 2021 vintage was 16,666 bottles.
Tasting profile
The 2021 is complex, with intense, ripe red fruit, balanced tannins and a persistent finish. Montefico gives structured, tannic wines that retain freshness and minerality, with spicy fruit and a mineral, persistent close.
Serving and pairing
Pair with pasta and risotto, white or red meats, and game. Its expected longevity is 30 years from the harvest.
