Vineyard and terroir
Ovello is the wine's MGA. For the 2021 release, the vineyard area comprised 20.3 hectares with south-western, western and south-eastern exposures. The soils combine calcareous limestone and clay. Vineyard owners were Audasso, Casetta, Cavallo, Cravanzola, Gonella, Maffei, Odore, Rocca, Sarotto, Vacca and Varaldo.
Grapes
100% Nebbiolo.
Vinification
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel at 30°C, followed by 28 days of skin contact. Malolactic fermentation is completed.
Ageing
The 2021 vintage matured for 30 months in large oak barrels and a further nine months in bottle. The general specification gives a minimum of 30 months in 25–50 hl oak casks.
Technical data
The 2021 vintage was bottled in May 2025. Production amounted to 19,431 bottles and 1,951 magnums.
Tasting profile
Ovello produces a fruity, graceful and full-bodied Barbaresco. Its clay-rich soils contribute a firm backbone. Intense red-fruit character is matched by powerful, youthful tannins on the finish.
Serving and pairing
Pair with fresh egg-pasta dishes, risotto, white or red meat, game and venison. Cellaring potential is 30 years from the vintage.

The ripe 2021 vintage shows intense red-fruit aromas, balanced tannins and a long finish.
