Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from various vineyard locations and exposures. The soils range from clay and silt to sandy loam, with a substantial presence of galestro rock. The vines were planted between 2001 and 2016 at a density of 6,500 plants per hectare. Training systems are spurred cordon and Guyot, and the yield is 90 quintals per hectare.
Grapes
The 2024 blend is 60% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot. Pelofino brings together the principal Tuscan variety, Sangiovese, with the international varieties Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Vinification
Merlot and Sangiovese are harvested during the first half of September, followed by Cabernet Sauvignon in the first week of October. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks at 24°C, with 15 days of maceration.
Ageing
The wine matures for five months in stainless steel.

IGT Toscana Rosso. Alcohol: 12.5%. Total acidity: 4.92 g/L. Production: 27,000 bottles. Available format: 0.75 L. The first vintage was 2006.
Tasting profile
Bright ruby red. The nose combines red fruit, raspberry, wild strawberry and red citrus with accents of white pepper and medicinal herbs. The palate is warm and juicy, with youthful lightness and good balance. The finish is long, recalling fresh, crisp red fruit. Its overall character is fruity, soft and vibrant.
Serving and pairing
Pair with a board of traditional cured meats and cheeses or Pizza Margherita.
