Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from a parcel within a vineyard acquired in 2019 in the highest part of La Morra. Situated at almost 500 metres above sea level, the site has a fine southern exposure and faces the Piedmontese Alps. The parcel is dedicated to a complex, long-lived expression of Langhe Nebbiolo.
Grapes
100% Nebbiolo. Langhe DOC Nebbiolo.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in October, then destemmed and pressed. Skin contact lasts approximately three to four weeks, covering alcoholic fermentation and the subsequent post-fermentation maceration. The traditional submerged-cap system is used. Malolactic fermentation takes place in steel containers.
Tasting profile
Pale ruby red in colour. The bouquet is fine and persistent, with subtle notes recalling violets and roses. The palate is full and spicy.
Serving and pairing
Suited to spit-roasted and grilled red meats, game, truffled fondue, agnolotti, and Italian preparations of white or red meat, including dishes served with spiced sauces.
Label / history
The historical “soldier” label was created by Renato Ratti in remembrance of the heroism shown by Piedmontese regiments defending their region during the Napoleonic period around 1800. The wine is presented in the Albeisa bottle, named after Alba and created by Renato Ratti in 1973 to identify the distinctive character of the territory and its wines. The vineyard that supplies Reggimento was acquired in 2019.
