1850\nThe family of Giulio Ettore Ritter de Zahony bought the Monastero estate and turned it into an innovative agricultural enterprise.\n\n### Today\nThe estate, now known as Tenuta di Monastero, covers 130 hectares and is managed by the seventh generation of the Ritter de Zahony family, which continues to follow the family's winemaking traditions. Barone Ritter de Zahony wines have received awards at international exhibitions on several occasions.
Terroir
The vineyards lie in a wine-growing region sheltered from the wind by the Carnic Alps on one side and surrounded by the coast on the other. The mountains protect the grapes from cold winds, while the sea provides the moisture they need.
