Vineyard and terroir
Barbaresco Albesani comes from the historic Albesani geographical mention in the municipality of Neive. Its soils are characterised by calcareous clay. The parcel combines old vines planted during the 1950s with more recent plantings dating from the 1980s and 1990s.
Grapes
Nebbiolo.
Vinification
The vineyard is harvested by hand in small crates once physiological maturity has been reached, with ripeness assessed through the condition of the grape seeds. The grapes undergo two manual selections before vinification to retain intact fruit. Fermentation takes place exclusively in wooden vats, initiated by a pied de cuve made with indigenous yeasts, and continues for approximately 10 days. This is followed by traditional submerged-cap maceration lasting approximately 60–70 days.
Ageing
The wine matures for approximately five years in neutral oak and concrete vats.
