Vineyard and terroir
A small selection from Crichët Pajé, made exclusively from old-vine fruit.
Vinification
The Riserva protocol includes submerged-cap maceration lasting 80–90 days.
Ageing
Ageing is exceptionally long and takes place in oak casks, concrete and ceramic. Barbaresco Crichët Pajé Riserva remains in the cellar for at least an additional decade and is released 18 years after the harvest. Riserva ageing can be as much as twice that of the standard wine from the same appellation.
Technical data
Production is restricted to no more than a few hundred bottles. The vintage presented is 2004.
Label / history
The wine belongs to the Riserva range, whose releases are selected according to strict parameters and made only from old vines. Roagna adopted the black label for its Riserva wines in recent years to give the range a distinct identity.
