Vineyard and terroir
The parcel lies at the beginning of the historic Gallina geographical mention in the municipality of Neive. Roagna has cultivated this vineyard since 2014. Its calcareous-clay soil contains a substantial proportion of sand and shapes a Barbaresco distinguished by finesse and elegance.
Grapes
Nebbiolo.
Vinification
The vineyard is harvested by hand into small crates once physiological maturity has been reached, with ripeness assessed through the grape seeds. The fruit passes through two manual selections before vinification.
Fermentation takes place exclusively in wooden vats, initiated with a pied de cuve prepared from indigenous yeasts, and continues for approximately 10 days. This is followed by traditional submerged-cap maceration lasting about 60–70 days.
Ageing
The wine matures for approximately five years in neutral oak and concrete vats.
