Vineyard and terroir
The Nebbiolo grows in the La Serra vineyards in Piedmont, on limestone soils. Roberto Voerzio's estate covers 8.66 hectares. He follows organic practices and uses only natural fertilizers in the vineyards. Vines are carefully selected and only half of the grape bunches are left on the vine. In favourable, warm years each vine yields 1 bottle of wine; in rainy conditions several vines are needed for 1 bottle.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand from late September to early October.
Ageing
After fermentation the wine ages 24 months in old oak barrels, then 8 months in steel tanks and a further 8 months in bottle.
Tasting profile
A powerful wine with a full, rich palate and super-ripe tannins. The aroma is complex and intense.
Label / history
Roberto Voerzio took over the family business in 1987 and now runs the estate with his family.
