Vineyard and terroir
The estate vineyard lies in the commune of La Morra at 240–385 metres above sea level. The vines average 35 years of age and are farmed organically, using only natural fertilisers. Yields are kept very low through careful vine selection and the removal of half the grape clusters. In favourable warm years, one vine yields enough fruit for one bottle; in rainy years, several vines are required.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested entirely by hand from late September to early October. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine matures for 24 months in old French oak barrels, followed by eight months in stainless-steel tanks and a further eight months in bottle in the estate’s cellars.
Label / history
Roberto Voerzio took over the family business in 1987 and now runs the 8.66-hectare estate with his family. His approach combines modern methods with organic vineyard practices.
