Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from the estate’s namesake vineyard in Fizzano. Its 35 hectares have sandy, gravelly soils that support the aromatic expression of Sangiovese. The vine rows follow the winding hillsides with a south-west exposure.
Ageing
Most of the wine matures for 24 months in 35 hl French oak barrels, while a small portion ages in 225-litre barriques. After blending and bottling, it rests for at least another year. The 2020 vintage is best enjoyed after 2025.
Tasting profile
Juicy and polished, with depth, balance, energy and character. It matures over time without losing its charm.
Label / history
In 2012, the wine entered the newly established Gran Selezione category of Chianti Classico. A label depicting the vineyard layout was created to mark the new classification.
